How can I contribute?
FK supports the exchange of personnel/staff between ngos, companies and other types of organizations. Staff/personnel working for these organizations exchange workplaces for a longer period of time.

FK does noe recruit the participants - all recruitment is done by the organizations in question - by us called partners. most of the partners choose among their own staff, yet some choose to recruit new staff members for these assignments. As an individual you need to check out the exchange possibilities on your own

We divide our exchange activity in three different programme lines:

The North-south Programme is one of three programme lines in Fredskorpset in which companies in Norway and in the South exchange employees or members between the ages of 22 and 35. The exchanges enable people with similar professional backgrounds or interests to learn from one another and contribute to competency building in the company.
The Youth programme distinguishes itself from the North-South programme by the fact that the participants travel in larger groups and that the exchange period is for a shorter period. This programme is also characterized by a stronger focus on self-development. The age span is 18 to 25 years.

The South-south programme is similar to the North-south programme except - of course - that it is between countires in the south.

All participants go through a preparation course held by FK and possibly by their partners.

FK Partners in Norway
Since the re-establishment of FK in 2000, we have had more than 130 partners in Norway. Even though most of our partners have their main offices in Oslo, our participants come from all over Norway. Take a look at our partners by checking out the main menu on the left.

FK Worldwide
Today FK has projects in more than 60 countries in the developing world, yet focused in the countries labeled "main partner countries" for the Norwegian government. The five countries where FK has most activity outside Norway are: Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Malawi (2005 fig.)

Engagement in Norway
FK works to include more people in Norway in North-south issues and international co-operation. Regularly we gather our networks consisting of partners, participants and other friends/contacts to arrange an international week named "DMM - Bringing People Together". These events take place all over Norway.

During some hectic days FK and local contacts carry out a series of international, professional and cultural events. FK challenges different municipalities through the work conducted in a Future Workshop, this work produce from three to five international challenges to the local government. Additionally FK carries out school visits where our Participants present the UN Millennium goals in a fun an inspiring way for young pupils.

You can find more info about DMM in the main menu under Activity/Networks.

FK awards the honorary distinction "International Municipality/Internasjonal Kommune" in co-operation with KS. This distinction is awarded those municipalities that take a stand in international issues. FK also wants to prolong our co-operation with these municipalities.

During 2006 FK arranged approximately 30 network events.
