28 participants attended preparatory course in South Africa
Particpants from 9 countries met in Cape Town to prepare for their exchange period

The FK Regional Office in Africa recently organised a preparatory course for 28 new FK-participants from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia.

6 FK-partners represented
Of the 28 participants 15 were female and 13 male. The participants represented the following FK-partners:
- 8 from Sports partnership - SCORE
- 4 from Water boards partnership - Bloem Water
- 5 from Governance, research and development partnership - IDASA
- 4 from Gender and women empowerment partnership - NAWOU
- 2from the Health programme under Oslo University hospital partnership
- 5 participants on the North-South programme from the Field band partnership - NMF
Participants were taken through various modules which included
- Introduction to FK
- Webpage designing
- Intercultural communication
- Development Issues
- North/South relations
- Poverty reduction
- Appreciative inquiry
- Personal challenges
- Security, Health and safety
They also had some excursions to Cape Town and its environs which included Table Mountain, Roben Island and the townships.
The preparatory course started May 23rd and ended June 6th. FK Programme Officer David Matovu was in charge of the course, in liaison with Louise Drury from SCORE International – South Africa.
