(Print) Guatemalan FK-participant designed birth simulator



Industrial designer Paulina Quinonez Gonzalez from Guatemala has designed a "MamaNatalie" to prevent deaths in childbirth

Reducing maternal mortality is one of the eight Millennium Development Goals.  The pregnancy device will give practice to midwives and health workers, and are aimed at  developing countries.

The 29-year-old designer Paulina Quinonez Gonzalez, made "MamaNatalie" while she worked at exchange at Laerdal Medical as part of a program called Design Without Borders. The exchange programme is a partnership between Norsk Form (Norway), Universidad Rafael Landivar (Guatemala) and Makerere University (Uganda).
